Insanely Cool Diggle Costume Concept Art by Andy Poon

Arrow (2015)

Check out Arrow concept art by Andy Poon!

John Diggle (David Ramsey) on the TV show Arrow is Oliver Queen's bodyguard and confidant. In recent years he joined Arrow's crime-fighting team and there have been rumors for years that he's going to become Green Lantern, but he confirmed this year that it's not going to happen on the show. The producers did say that Diggle will finally be getting a superhero identity in season four. At San Diego Comic-Con they revealed that John Diggle will be wearing a costume and showed the concept art. Several fans shot pictures and they've made their way onto the Internet. Andy Poon confirmed that he's the artist on his blog and Facebook (plus you can see his signature in the corner).

Poon is a professional concept artist who's worked on big budget projects like Smallville.

Who is he going to be? He could be an original character, but he could also be the superhero known as "The Guardian." In the comics, James Jacob "Jim" Harper is the alter-ego of The Guardian. Later a Black man named Jake Jordan became "Manhattan Guardian".

Guardian doesn’t have superpowers, but drives a custom motorcycle and has combat and weapons training. Guardian also carries an indestructible shield, which is could easily be made for by the techs at Star Labs. In the animated television series Young Justice the Guardian wears a similar costume.

Considering Diggle has driven motorcycles before, it makes sense for him to wear a helmet inspired by motorcycles. Andy Poon said, "I have also been working on a new look for Diggle as well, and they actually [revealed] the concept I did on screen in Hall H. Yes Hall H, which to any comic book fan Hall H is like the cathedral of all cool comic movie trailers and news. So now July 11th 2015 marks a very special day for me as an artist and a comic nerd, I made it to Hall H!"

Here's what Guardian has looked like in the comics and the show Young Justice.

What do you think of the concept art? If you've seen Arrow what do you think of the idea of Diggle becoming a superhero?

Official Arrow Synopsis
"After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he's become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow ‚– a vigilante ‚– to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be ‚– flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle ‚– while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel's father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city.
